• What are we living for? — питання в Present Continuous (тут не “прямо зараз живемо”, а “у нинішній життєвій ситуації/сенсі”).
• living for = “жити заради / мати сенс”.

Покинуті місця… здається, ми й так розуміємо, що до чого.

• I guess — розмовне “мабуть/здається”.
• know the score — ідіома: “розуміти реальний стан справ / правила гри”.
